"A Christmas Carol" Train May Be Rolling Into Your City

Robert Zemeckis' Epic 3-D version of "A Christmas Carol" starring Jim Carrey in the title role, won't be hitting your local theatres until November 6th, 2009, but you'll be able to start feeling the experience when the special "A Christmas Carol" train tours train stations around the country.

The "A Christmas Carol" train tour's train schedule is available on the official website.

It's hard not to be excited about this version after reading a recent review of the upcoming Disney IMAX trailer from Hollywood Outbreak:
"We had the chance to sit in on a twenty minute presentation of scenes from the upcoming holiday film DISNEY’S A CHRISTMAS CAROL in IMAX 3-D and can only say that, visually, it is nothing short of AMAZING. Directed by ROBERT ZEMECKIS (THE POLAR EXPRESS) and starring JIM CARREY, COLIN FIRTH and GARY OLDMAN, this is one very cool holiday present."

Inevitably, comparisons will be made and expectations set for this frequently filmed story. I am hoping to enjoy this, as we all can use another holiday classic. I'll be rounding up my family and friends for a Nov. 6 opening night out.

Lego in the news this week

Olin administrator builds Lego Needham Town Hall It turns out that two Town Halls were built in Needham this year. One was the brick-and-mortar building sitting in Needham Center, which underwent renovations and additions and will be officially unveiled at a Needham300 event on Nov. 5.  The other Town Hall is made of Legos.  Nick Tatar, Assistant Dean of Student Life at Olin College, built this second Town Hall at Olin over the course of three months, starting in January. Working with Olin professor Brad Minch and seven children and Olin students, Tatar built the Town Hall out of fifteen thousand Lego pieces, sometimes working 10 to 15 hours a week on the project. On Nov. 5, Tatar will break the Town Hall into chunks and transport it to the other Town Hall. At noon, he will reassemble it, then step back and let people admire his handiwork.
