Find New Haunts at the Classics & Country Home Decor & Gifts

I recently found this website while perusing the Yahoo Group...they feature many of the new for 2008 pieces as "coming soon". You can see some of them on the Snow Village Halloween page. Many of the classics, such as the Black Cat Diner, are sold out. We ended up getting that one on Ebay last year. I found it for my wife as one of her wedding gifts. She loved it, and it really stood out among our halloween pieces.

One of the most promising new halloween pieces is the "Rickety Railroad Station", pictured here.

The website offers many different product lines, including Archipelago, Byers' Choice, Department 56 - Villages & Accessories, Department 56 - Snowbabies™, Miss Martha Originals, White House Ornaments, Willow Tree Angels, and Yankee Candles.

The shop itself is located just minutes away form Historic Mount Vernon Estate near our nation's capital. The shop, owned by Andrea & Stavroulla Ploutis is now 20 years old.

I've added the shop to our Google Map of Department 56 shops - for the perfect D56 road trip!

A Couple's Wintery Village Scenes

Showing that just because Christmas is over, doesn't mean it's time to take down your snowy scenes...I found this article in the Villages Daily Sun : "Walking in a winter wonderland takes on new meaning when anyone enters the home of Don and Lorraine Crowley. The couple have snowy scenes from the North Pole and Elfland set up in the living room, while the garage is filled with a huge Christmas in the City display, complete with streets, bridges and a baseball park. But for Lorraine, president of the Tri-County Department 56 Collector’s Club, the displays are nothing out of the ordinary, considering many of the club members have similar displays in their own homes. “Everybody has different ways of displaying it,” Lorraine said of the Department 56 collectibles. “You find different things. When somebody comes up with a unique idea, you try and share it. It’s always nice to see somebody do something different.” ... click here to read the rest of the article
