More recommended D56 shops

"The Emporium Gallery at 3358 West 26th St. in Erie, Pennsylvania. They are a Showcase Dealer, with a complete room devoted to D 56 Villages. Ask for Audrey or Henry."

"Rich, There is a fantastic shop in Winston Salem, North Carolina which has villages out year round in a nice large room with full displays. They carry every line of villages: original snow village, halloween village, dickens, christmas in city, alpine, north pole, new england as well as side line villages such as carnival, wizard of oz, peanuts, winnie the pooh The two "regular gals"
that work there, Kathy and Laura, are truly spectacular as well. The shop is Salem Creek and it's on 694 Hanes Mall Blvd. I encourage everyone in the general area who are into villages to give them a look. By the way, they have a great Christmas in July sale coming towards the end of July with all their retired villages on sale."

"The Christmas Place in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is a huge Christmas store with a very large Dept56 area. It carries all the villages."

" In Sherwood,
Oregon there is a Department 56 store called "Sleighbells Gift Shop". It is a large Christmas store open year round. They carry a huge inventory of Department 56 villages."

I will be expanding these recommendations to include the website addresses and full contact information for each shop. Hopefully, I'll be able to create that mapping tool, which would be pretty useful, I imagine.

A Couple's Wintery Village Scenes

Showing that just because Christmas is over, doesn't mean it's time to take down your snowy scenes...I found this article in the Villages Daily Sun : "Walking in a winter wonderland takes on new meaning when anyone enters the home of Don and Lorraine Crowley. The couple have snowy scenes from the North Pole and Elfland set up in the living room, while the garage is filled with a huge Christmas in the City display, complete with streets, bridges and a baseball park. But for Lorraine, president of the Tri-County Department 56 Collector’s Club, the displays are nothing out of the ordinary, considering many of the club members have similar displays in their own homes. “Everybody has different ways of displaying it,” Lorraine said of the Department 56 collectibles. “You find different things. When somebody comes up with a unique idea, you try and share it. It’s always nice to see somebody do something different.” ... click here to read the rest of the article
