Image via WikipediaFaith Hill, September 16: "It's summer and it's hot, but even so, Faith Hill is quick to warm up to talk about Christmas. Which is more than appropriate as she starts promoting the first Christmas album of her 15-year career, "Joy to the World," due September 16 on Warner Bros.

While many Nashville-based artists record holiday records early and relatively often, Hill's was several years in the making and intended to be her definitive take on the season. Sheryl Crow, September: Christmas came early for Sheryl Crow this year, thanks to a holiday album that will go on sale in Hallmark Gold Crown stores in September.

Crow recorded the as-yet-untitled album for Hallmark's annual series with producer Bill Bottrell, who previously worked with her on her 1993 debut "Tuesday Night Music Club" and her self-titled follow-up. Previous artists in the Hallmark series include James Taylor, Barry Manilow and George Strait.

I had been wanting to do this for a while, so when the opportunity came up I just kind of jumped at it. I love Christmas music; every year we have this ritual after the Christmas Eve service, 40 or 50 people come over to the house and we play Christmas music. We pretty much rely on the same Christmas music every year, and every year I've said, "I'm gonna make some Christmas music of my own." A Couple's Wintery Village Scenes

Showing that just because Christmas is over, doesn't mean it's time to take down your snowy scenes...I found this article in the Villages Daily Sun : "Walking in a winter wonderland takes on new meaning when anyone enters the home of Don and Lorraine Crowley. The couple have snowy scenes from the North Pole and Elfland set up in the living room, while the garage is filled with a huge Christmas in the City display, complete with streets, bridges and a baseball park. But for Lorraine, president of the Tri-County Department 56 Collector’s Club, the displays are nothing out of the ordinary, considering many of the club members have similar displays in their own homes. “Everybody has different ways of displaying it,” Lorraine said of the Department 56 collectibles. “You find different things. The History Channel 's comprehensive website has dedicated an entire section to " Christmas ". It's a good read, and a great reference for those of us who like to delve into the particulars about Christmas events, trivia, specifics and traditions. Pages within this section include videos on " Santa Claus ", " Christmas Trees ", and the " History of Christmas ". Other content includes a page focusing on " Christmas Around the World ", " The Christmas Truce of 1914 ", as well as quite a bit else.
